Using the Forum and Chat
Posting, replying, private messages with neighbors and your guard.
The Forum is where your neighborhood talks. It's not Facebook, it's not Nextdoor — it's a smaller, neighborhood-only space tied directly to the security context. Your on-duty patrol participates too.
Posting
Tap + New Post in the Forum tab. Pick a category:
- General: anything that doesn't fit elsewhere.
- Safety Tips: lock your car, lock your shed, the kind of advice that scales.
- Local Events: school fundraisers, block parties, advance notice of fireworks.
- Lost and Found: a missing dog, a found bike.
- Patrol Q&A: questions specifically directed at your on-duty patrol. They get pinged.
Replying and liking
Each post has a thread of replies (one level deep — no nested-reply forests). You can like a post or a reply; high-liked content surfaces at the top of the feed for the next 48 hours.
Private chat
Tap any neighbor's name in a forum post to start a private chat with them. Same for the on-duty patrol — there's a permanent Chat with patrol entry in your messages list. Private chats are end-to-end-encrypted; HaevenX cannot read them.
Forum Feed
The neighborhood forum feed with several categorized posts
Etiquette
- No accusations of specific people. Describe what you saw, not who you think did it.
- No license plate or face publishing. If you have evidence, attach it to an Incident Report (those are scoped to the patrol, not the public feed).
- Be useful. A 3-line post about a real situation beats a 30-line vent.
Posts that violate etiquette get hidden by an admin and the poster gets a private nudge. Repeat offenders lose forum access (but keep the safety features of the app).
